Pigskin Poets event kicks off at the library

What would happen if you introduced your child to a burly football player who secretly loved reading “Harry Potter”?

Who knows? Perhaps a J.K. Rowling fan will attend the ninth annual Pigskin Poets on Thursday, featuring several members of the USC football team. Even if one doesn’t attend, the event could “spur” a love of reading in your child.

The event usually is packed, with about 300 little Gamecocks fans — and grown-ups — lining up to get autographs and listen to the players read stories.
