  • LA Sports & Entertainment Commission's 4th Annual NFL 101/201 Slated for July 13, 2006
Speakers Include Reggie Bush, Andrea Kremer, Willie McGinest, Rodney Peete, Mike Pereira, Sean Salisbury, Amy Trask and Rod Woodson

    June 01, 2006

LOS ANGELES June 1, 2006--The fourth annual NFL 101/201 event, staged by the LA Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC), will take place on Thursday, July 13 in the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood and Highland. The event's updated details and speakers were confirmed today by LASEC President Kathy Schloessman.

This year's NFL 101/201 instructors include Reggie Bush, New Orleans Saints running back and 2006 Heisman Trophy winner from USC; Andrea Kremer, reporter, NBC Sports (and the event's emcee); Willie McGinest, three-time Super Bowl champion and Cleveland Browns linebacker; Rodney Peete, co-host, "Best Damn Sports Show Period" and former NFL quarterback; Mike Pereira, senior director of officiating, NFL; Sean Salisbury, ESPN NFL analyst and former NFL quarterback; Amy Trask, chief executive, Oakland Raiders; and Rod Woodson, NFL Network analyst and former NFL All-Pro defensive back.

"It speaks to the caliber this event has become that we are able to attract such high level individuals from the world of professional football," said Kremer. "And it's a tribute to these individuals who are all donating their time to make sure the passion for NFL football continues in Los Angeles."

NFL 101/201 is the only current Southern California-based event that is officially sanctioned by the NFL. This event was originated for women and men who are unfamiliar with the rules and strategy of professional football or want to learn more about the game. NFL 101/201 offers an evening of instruction in offensive and defensive football from some of the biggest names in the sport.

"This is the most impressive lineup of talent that we've had for this event," said Schloessman. "This year's roster includes the 2006 #2 draft pick (Bush), two former NFL quarterbacks who have made the transition from the NFL to the broadcast booth (Peete and Salisbury), a two-time Pro Bowl attendee and #4 pick in the 1994 draft (McGinest) and the chief executive of the Oakland Raiders (Trask). Add to that, former NFL defensive back and NFL Network analyst (Woodson), the head of the NFL's officiating department (Pereira) and one of the top broadcast journalists covering the NFL today (Kremer), and it's easy to see why we are so excited about this year's NFL 101/201 event."

For the event, the ballroom at Hollywood & Highland will be transformed into a mini football stadium, complete with bleachers and an artificial turf field. Wolfgang Puck Catering and Events is the NFL 101/201 presenting sponsor. In addition to the various guest speakers and participants, attendees will also have an opportunity to "Suit Up Like a Pro" by trying on official NFL team uniforms and equipment. Also, Pereira will have official replay video stations set up so that attendees will have the opportunity to play the role of an NFL replay official and "go under the hood." Several other football themed attractions will be available for attendees to enjoy.
