SC Athletic Hall of Fame inducts eight members

(Columbia) - Monday night the the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame is inducting eight new members in what could be their best class ever.

The class of 2006 has plenty of star power.

There's former USC football coach Jim Carlen. He took the Gamecocks to three bowls in seven years and coached Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers.

Former USC running back Harold Green is also among the inductees. He holds the school record for touchdowns in a season with 15.

From basketball, there's Donnie Walsh, who served as a Carolina assistant for 12 seasons under Frank McGuire.

And from baseball, Columbia native Lamar Hoyt, the 1983 CY Young Award winner.

The 2006 class also includes former Clemson and major league pitcher Jimmy Key, Charleston native and US Olympic gold medalist Katrina McClain, and from football, former Furman and NFL standout Stanford Jennings and former Citadel linebacker Brian Ruff.
