He was born on September 20, 1988 in Long Beach, California. He stands five feet and eleven and weighs 180 pounds.

During his junior year in 2004 at Long Beach Poly, he had 26 receptions for 612 yards with 3 Touch Downs.He also ran track at Poly, with bests of 10.44 in the 100 meters and and 21.41 in the 200. He also won the 2006 CIF Division I race and also was third at the 2006 CIF Masters meet and fourth at the 2006 state meet .

In the 2005 season, he earned a number of honors including Prep Star All-American, Super Prep All-Farwest, Prep Star All-Western, Long Beach Press-Telegram Best in the West honorable mention, Tacoma News-Tribune Western 100, All-CIF Division I first team, Long Beach Press-Telegram Dream Team first team and All-Moore League first team as a senior wide receiver at Long Beach Poly High. He also had 1,097 all-purpose yards in 2005, caught 25 passes for 700 yards with 15 Touch Downs and averaged 38.0 yards on kickoff returns and 27.0 yards on punt returns.
