Illinois' remaining Rose Bowl tickets gone in half hour

CHAMPAIGN -- It didn't take long for the University of Illinois to sell the last of its tickets for the pasadena rose bowl game just half an hour. The university put the last 3,000 of its tickets on sale at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. All were sold by 9:30.

Tuesday was the first chance the general public had to buy tickets from the university.

The other 23,000 tickets were sold to season-ticket holders and people who donate money to the school.

Illinois finished a surprise 9-and-3 and will face USC in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day. The game will be the Illini's first trip to the Rose Bowl since 1984.
