
He attended Good Pasture Highschool where in the 2004 season, he was named Parade All-American, Super Prep Elite 50, Prep Star Top 100 Dream Team, Student Sports Top 100, Rivals 100, Super Prep All-American, Prep Star All-American, Tom Lemming All-American, Scout.com All-American first team, USA Today All-USA second team, EA Sports All-American second team, Super Prep All-Dixie Offensive Player of the Year, Prep Star All-Southeast, Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super Southern 100 and FSN South All-South selection as a senior wide receiver.
He also had 48 receptions for 800-plus yards and 11 touchdowns and as a junior, he caught 56 passes for 955 yards with 12 Touch Downss. In 2002, he was a Student Sports Sophomore All-American when he had 56 catches for 1,033 yards with 14 TDs. He also was on the basketball and track teams at Goodpasture.
In 2005, he served as an often-used backup wide receiver as a first-year freshman. Overall in 2005 while appearing in 12 games except UCLA, where he strained his right hamstring against Fresno State. He had 12 catches for 170 yards with 2 Touch Downss. He also had 2 catches for 25 yards against Arkansas, added a 20-yard reception against Arizona and had 2 grabs for 40 yards at Washington. He then had 2 catches for 21 yards against Washington State, 3 receptions for 35 yards versus Stanford and 2 catches for 29 yards at California.
